Shout Out to Beautiful B2C Brands

Day 9283409283049 of lockdown. We’ve gained weight. We’ve drunk too much. We’re in dire need of a haircut. And the shops have run out of flour so staving off the boredom with baking is no longer an option. But there is light at the end of our letterbox; bundles of brightness in these oh-so-challenging of times... This week we shout out to the B2C brands sparking joy in our lives during lockdown.

Delectable deliveries

Much has been made in recent commentary of us being forced to look backwards in the time of the crisis. Included in this is a newfound appreciation of post. Among the deliveries relieving the daily strain are fresh fruit and veg from Abel & Cole and Riverford Organics and fabulous floral arrangements from Freddie’s Flowers and Bloom & Wild. And there’s no time like the present to sign up to a new subscription service; what could be better than regular drop-offs from the likes of Pasta Evangelists and Gower Cottage Brownies? In the spirit of embracing bygone traditions we’re also loving the service from Papergang – delivering joy on a monthly basis in the form of vibrantly designed stationery sets.

The rise and grind

Whether you’re hitting up Joe Wicks on a daily basis or making the most of the weather with long walks and bike rides, exercise has become our salvation; breaking up the day and giving us a good hit of endorphins at the same time. Liforme’s innovative yoga mats with their unique alignment system (perfect for amateur yogis like myself) are great for at-home strength workouts while Peloton’s exercise bikes are the one for those missing their weekly spin classes. And just because no-one can see us in all our sweat-soaked glory, doesn’t mean we can’t look good while we do it – Lucas Hugh’s technical designs are the best in fantastically flattering performance wear.

Super soft loungewear

Failing to see the point in getting dressed? Us too. But invest in quality loungewear and it doesn’t really matter. Madeleine Thompson and Chinti & Parker are the best for combining comfort and style; you can’t beat their cashmere co-ords for tricking colleagues into thinking you’ve made the effort for 9am Zoom calls. And if you want to mix it up for bedtime (because really, why not?), opt for sumptuous silks and luxurious linens from the likes of Morpho + Luna and Violet & Wren – their exquisite prints brighten up the darkest of days. The ultimate in WFH-appropriate underwear is the aptly named Lounge Underwear, whose vast range fuses cutting-edge design with comfortable fit.

Crisp new linens

Is there anything more satisfying than fresh sheets? Brands such as Piglet and Bedfolk are elevating simply designed sleepwear and bedding to new heights with their chic, Scandi-inspired linen ranges. Supremely soft and insanely comfortable, their bedding bundles provide the perfect backdrop for your Netflix mega-marathon after a difficult day. Bedfolk has serious eco credentials too with ethically sourced fabrics and a pared-back supply chain. This is effortless minimalism at its finest.

Lockdown luxuries

Call us basic all you like but you can’t deny the joy a deliciously scented candle brings. We’re loving NEOM Organics’ 100% natural wax candles; the essential oils – think Moroccan blush rose and lime – lend a real sense of serenity to the stress of meeting afternoon deadlines. SevenSeventeen’s Mood-Boosting range of candles similarly do exactly as they say on the tin – the lavender and bergamot scent is nothing short of heavenly. Meanwhile ESPA’s oils are unbeatable for indulging yourself at bath-time and check out Parisian brand Nuxe for its excellent range of hand creams – they’re going some way to nourish our poor parched paws.
